East Wenatchee is a city in Douglas County, Washington, United States. The population at the 2010 census was 13,190, a 129.1% increase on the 2000 census. As of 2019, the Office of Financial Management estimates that the current population was 14,219. Fruit orchards become one of the area's leading industries. The first trans-pacific flight was the first nonstop flight across the Pacific Ocean on October 5, 1931. In May 1987, farmworkers accidentally discovered a cache of 11,000-year-old Clovis points and other artifacts left by Pleistocene hunters. The legal moratorium on new archaeological work at the new site ended on June 1, 2007. The town was incorporated on March 11, 1935, the original town site was 50 acres (200,000 m2) Through subsequent annexations, the town has grown into a city. Today, East Wenchee's boundaries encompass 3.67 square miles (9.5 km²), and the city's boundaries are 3.5 square miles, or 9.7 km². The city is located on the east shore of the Columbia River, opposite Wenatchees on the west shore. The bridge that opened in 1908 is a 1,060-foot (320 m) pin-connected steel cantilever bridge and cost $177,000 to build. It once carried Sunset Highway (State Highway 2) across the river. It remains as a footbridge and still has the old pipeline running across it.
History
East Wenatchee is the primary city name, but also E Wenatchee, Wenatchee are acceptable city names or spellings. The official name is East Wenatchee, Washington. East Wenatchee's boundaries encompass 3.67 square miles (9.5 km²) In 1931, pilots Clyde Pangborn and Hugh Herndon Jr. safely belly-landed their Bellanca airplane, Miss Veedol, on a nearby airstrip known then as Fancher Field. On May 27, 1987, farmworkers accidentally discovered a cache of 11,000-year-old Clovis points and other artifacts, left there by Pleistocene hunters. In 2007, a devastating wind storm with thousands of dollars worth of damage to homes, businesses, and city parks went without power for days and even weeks. The public school named after General Robert E. Lee (1955-1955) is still open today. The school district voted to change the name from Robert E Lee Elementary School in 2018 to Robert Lee School in August 2017 and again in August 2018. The town was incorporated on March 11, 1935, the original town site was 50 acres (200,000 m2) Through subsequent annexations, the town has grown into a city of 3.5 square miles. The city is home to the only public school in Washington State named after Robert ELee (1919-1954) The town is also home to a public library named for General Robert Lee, who served as the town's first postmaster from 1855 to 1858.

East Wenatchee is located at 47°2517N 120°1717W (47.421506, -120.288094).According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.81 square miles (9.87 km²) of which, 3.80 square miles is land and 0.03 km² is water. The city is located in the Washington D.C. suburbs of Chelan, Chelan and Yreka, and in the Chelan County area of Washington state. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the city's population at 3.8 million. It is the state's second-largest city, after Chelyabinsk, with a population of 4.2 million. The town's population was 4.1 million in the 2010 U.N. Census. It has a population density of 1,077.4 square miles per square mile, or 3.7 square miles. The state's population is 4.3 million, or 4.4 per cent of whom live in the town of East Wenatchees. It's the second largest city in the state behind Chelya, with 4.6 million people living in the city of Chelyalum, and the third largest in Washington state after Yrekas, with 3.9 million people. It was the site of the first recorded human settlement in the area, in 1805. It also is home to the University of Washington's College of Medicine.
