Louisville is a city in Cass County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 1,106 at the 2010 census. The city is located at 40°5958N 96°0935W (40.999547, -96.159763). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.57 square miles (1.48 km²), all land. The current mayor of Louisville is Rodney Petersen, a life long resident of the city. The first permanent settlement at Louisville was made in 1857. The community was likely named after the city of Louisville, Kentucky. A folk etymology maintains the name Louisville is derived from one Mr. Lois, the proprietor of a local gristmill. In 2010, there were 477 households, of which 31.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.1% were married couples living together, 9.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.5% were non-families. The average household size was 2.32 and the average family size was2.98. In the city, the population was spread out, with 27.3% under the ages of 18, 7.4%. from 18 to 24, 33.4%, from 25 to 44, 18.6%. from 45 to 64, and 13.6% who were 65 years of age or older. History

The first permanent settlement at Louisville was made in 1857. Louisville was platted in about 1870 when the Burlington & Missouri River Railroad was extended to that point. A folk etymology maintains the name Louisville is derived from one Mr. Lois, the proprietor of a local gristmill. The current mayor of Louisville is Rodney Petersen, a life long resident of the city. The city was likely named after the city of Louisville, Kentucky, which is located in the eastern part of the U.S. and is known as the Birthplace of the United States. It is located on the banks of the Ohio River, which runs through the center of Louisville. It was named for the city's founder, Louis XV, who was born in 1808 and moved to Louisville in 1809. The town was named after Louis XV's son, Louis XIV, who died in 1829. It has a population of more than 100,000 and is one of the largest cities in Kentucky. It also has the largest concentration of African-American residents in the state, with more than 80,000 people living in the Louisville metropolitan area. The population of the Louisville area is more than 50,000, making it the second largest city in Kentucky after Louisville, Louisville, and the third most populous city in Indiana. The Louisville area has the third largest population in the country, after Kentucky and Kentucky.
