Brighton is a home rule municipality city located in Adams and Weld counties, Colorado, United States. The city population was 40,083 at the 2020 United States Census with 39,718 residing in Adams County and 365 residing in Weld County. Brighton was founded in the 1870s as a stage/railroad depot and farming community. Among the notable scholars born there are Richard Ling, founding editor of Mobile Media & Communication, and Max Pfeffer, Senior Associate Dean of the Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Brighton is the home of two Vestas manufacturing plants, a wind turbine blade factory and a nacelle manufacturing plant. The Greater Brighton Chamber of Commerce is ranked the 14th Best Chamber in the Denver area per the Denver Business Journal per the Business Journal's rankings of the best local businesses. The Brighton Chamber helped to secure the Denver Metro area for Farm Fresh Produce and opening the Brighton Visitors Center in May 2020. The town was named for Brighton Beach, New York. It is a suburb of Denver and is located on the Colorado Turnpike. It has a cold semi-arid climate, abbreviated "BSk" on climate maps, with an average daily temperature of -2.2 degrees Celsius. History

Brighton is the primary city name, but also Commerce City, Lochbuie are acceptable city names or spellings. Brighton was founded in the 1870s as a stage/railroad depot and farming community. Among the notable scholars born there are Richard Ling, currently the Shaw Foundation Professor of Media Technology at Nanyang Technological University, and Max Pfeffer, Senior Associate Dean of the Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Michael Martinez serves as the current city manager. The town was named for Brighton Beach, New York. It was originally named Hughes Station. The city was incorporated in 1887. It is located on New York's East River, which runs through the center of the town. It has a population of about 2,000 people. The current mayor is Michael Martinez, who has been in office since 2008. The mayor's office is located in the town's downtown area, which is known as the "Brighton Center" The town is home to a number of colleges and universities, including Cornell University and the University of New York at Geneseo. It also has a high school, which was established in 1883. The school's mascot is the "Bulldog" and the school's colors are blue, white, and yellow. The high school has a football field and a track and field field, which were built in the early 1900s. The football field is named after Brighton Beach. Brighton has an area of 55.777 kilometers (43.777 miles) and has a climate that is cold and dry, with aBSk on the climate classification system. In the summer, Brighton is known for its hot, dry summers and cool, dry winters. The Brighton Chamber helped to secure Brighton as an Agritourism destination within the Denver Metro area for Farm Fresh Produce and opening the Brighton Visitors Center in May 2020. It is also the home to JC Penney, Kohl's, Dick's Sporting Goods, Super Target, and many other stores. It has a population of 2,000, making it one of the fastest-growing communities in the United States. The city is located on the Colorado River, which runs through the center of the city. The town is located in the Rocky Mountains, which run through the eastern part of the town. The community is home to a number of businesses, including a ski resort, a golf course, a bowling alley, a movie theater, and a bowling center. It also has a large number of restaurants, many of which are open to the public. The area has a history of economic growth, especially in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. It was the site of the opening of the Prairie Center, which is now the city's largest shopping center.
